Battle Hymn of the Republic

Impressive and beautiful singing …
Only white people in this choir. Other colors sold out in the hardware store?

by Mormon Tabernacle Choir

Lyrics

Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord
He is trampling out the vintage where the grapes of wrath are stored,
He has loosed the fateful lightening of His terrible swift sword
His truth is marching on.

Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
His truth is marching on

I have seen Him in the watch-fires of a hundred circling camps
They have builded Him an altar in the evening dews and damps
I can read His righteous sentence by the dim and flaring lamps
His day is marching on.

Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
His truth is marching on

In the beauty of the lillies Christ was born across the sea
With a glory in His bosom that transfigures you and me
As He died to make men holy, let us die to make men free
While God is marching on.

Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
His truth is marching on

Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
His truth is marching on

  1. Nice post of the video and lyrics!
Statistically members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints that reside outside of the United States exceeds those that do. There are over 13 members worldwide. It is unfortunate that the choir does not have a face to represent each region of membership. However, the reality of the situation is that logistically choir membership requires a person to live within a 100 mile radius of the Tabernacle in Salt Lake City. The mountain west region still remains predominantly Caucasian. However, there is diversity among the choir members! Those of African-American, Chinese, Japanese, Islander, and other heritage are represented. Among these wonderful singers are recording artist Alex Boye, and radio personality Nkoyo Iyamba of KBYU-FM.

  2. Thank you, mormonsoprano, for this information. I wish the audio quality of the video would be better, because what my eyes can see deserves a high-quality sound.
